If you love having manicures, you may want to consider getting gel ones. Gel manicures are longer-lasting, they won’t smudge or chip easily, and they can last for up to a whole month. However, this doesn’t mean they are immune to any type of accident and damage. Here are a few professional tips you need to prolong the life of your gel manicure:

  1. Don’t pick at your nails when they are wet. This will damage the gel nail and could lead to chips in your manicure.
  1. Consider using a base coat if you don’t already use one with your regular nail polish. The base coat helps protect your nails before you apply the color and make sure that the finish lasts longer. However, use a base that is specially made for gel nails. BLUESKY base coat is thick enough to provide your gel nails with enough support and last longer.
  1. Make sure that you choose a top coat that was specifically designed for gel nails or acrylic nails. Regular topcoats may be too thin to withstand the rigors of a gel manicure, leading to chipping more quickly than usual.
  1. Apply only one layer of topcoat, as additional layers may make the manicure run prematurely and cause it to chip more easily. Again, buy a topcoat that is made for gel nails as regular topcoats are thin to the job right and protect the color coat.
  1. It may be tempting to use an oversized buffer or file while trying to remove those rough spots from your nails before applying your gel polish, but this can weaken the strength of the manicure and cause it to chip more easily as well. Therefore, try to avoid doing this and buy a buffer that’s not harsh on your nails.
